Protecting constitutional rights and standing beside people accused of crimes has shaped my legal career from the very beginning.
I am a North Carolina native, originally from the Triangle area. I attended Appalachian State University as an honors student. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science: International and Comparative Politics and a minor in Sociology. In 2010, I moved to the Triad to attend law school at Elon University School of Law. There, I became a member of the Elon Law Innocence Project, where I found my calling as a criminal defense attorney. I was an editor of the Elon Law Review, and I graduated cum laude in 2013. Upon passing the bar in 2013, I began my career in criminal defense at the Durham County Public Defender’s Office. I advocated for juveniles accused of all types of crimes from drug possession to serious assaults, robberies, and kidnapping.
In 2016, I moved to the Guilford County Public Defender’s Office, as I lived in Greensboro and had come to call the Triad home. I remained in that position until going into private practice in 2022. Throughout my nearly decade-long career as a public defender, I gained invaluable experience in advocacy and litigation on behalf of the criminally accused. I have represented people charged with all types of misdemeanor and felony offenses, including DWI, larceny, domestic violence, serious assaults, drug possession and trafficking, kidnapping, burglary, breaking or entering, financial crimes, death by motor vehicle, sex offenses, and murder. I bring a deep knowledge of the criminal justice system, criminal laws, and procedure to my practice. I am dedicated to my clients, and I fight fearlessly for their interests. I work hard to ensure that my clients’ statutory and constitutional rights are protected at every stage of the criminal process.
I have also taught as an adjunct professor at Elon Law School, instructing first-year law students in a specialized criminal law course that focuses on specific aspects of a criminal case from start to finish.
In my free time, I like to travel and spend time with my two children.
